How to choose a coach

Choosing Your Career Coach

When searching for a career coach it’s worth consulting with a few before making a decision. You’re looking for someone with whom you have the best chemistry. She/he should be able to demonstrate that there is a structured process in place for efficiently learning about you, your situation and your objectives. Here are some questions that might help:

  • Ask the coach for a brief synopsis of their experience.

  • Ask if they are credentialed.

  • How many clients have they (successfully) worked with?

  • How are their coaching programs structured?

  • How will we measure success?

  • What area, if any, does she/he specialize in?

  • How long does she/he typically work with clients?
